Paint it Black

My goals in this artwork were to create an interesting drawing based on simple objects, using varying colors. I accomplished this by looking at the shoe and lipstick and pulling out the colors and shapes. Instead of intuitively painting the objects, I painted shapes of different colors. The most difficult part of this painting was trying to draw the shoe. I met this challenge by approaching it from an abstract point of view, focusing on the reflected colors instead of the shape. My drawing is about the blocks of color in the shoe and lipstick. I shifted to right brain artistic thinking by drawing the colors as shapes rather than as one object. My drawing really works in the mixing of color in the shoe. If I could do it over again, I would spend more time drawing the shoe.

My goals in this artwork were to create an interesting drawing based on simple objects. I accomplished this by looking at the vases adn pulling out geometric shapes and colors you wouldn't necessarily expect to be there. The most difficult part of this drawing was trying to make the two vases look symmetrical. I met this challenge by creating lines between them as reference points. My drawing is about the projection of the color in the background and the interesting colors in the vases. I shifted to right brain artistic thinking by drawing the vases as shapes rather than objects. My drawing really works in the overlap of the projection and the vase. If I had a do-over, I would focus on a smaller part of the vases.
